If you think criminals should be spared from the consequences of their acts, this book will warm your soul. It’s syruppy liberal gibberish.
I agree with the author, judges are martinettes and petty tyrants. But it cuts both ways; in my 1000s of courtroom experiences judges nudge the scales of justice both ways; some give defendants every reasonable and unreasonable break, and some hang everybody. Judges often order that the laws be broken inorder to oblige their whims. Judges are always lawyers who cant hack private practice. No exceptions. And lately, all women and 2nd rate men.
Feige consistently writes well. And the book contains several instances of the “F” word. Unless cursing is necessary for the story, minimize it. I’m not opposed to cursing per se, if it’s a salient part for telling the story.
David Feige and Indefensible are similar to Jason Blair and The New York Times. Pure fantasy and no credibility. The book is poorly written and is not very interesting. I don’t see what all the concern is about. Nobody will read this trash anyway.
Well, all I have to ask is “What color is the sky in YOUR world Mr. Feige?? Or maybe someone should send the author a map to find the Bronx because the junk that he wrote must be about some other jurisdiction. Of all places for a Defense attorney to practice law-the Bronx is the most “defendant friendly” in terms of its jurors and judges. Juror mistrust of the police, which attorneys capitalize on, contributes to the abismally low conviction rate. A defense attorney merely needs to show up basically. Of course anyone that knows Mr. Feige also knows that he, along with his other Bronx Defenders, have trouble actually showing up to court and handling their cases.
Save your money folks-if you still want to read this “Fiction” (fantasy is more like it) wait for it to hit the closeout stores when they’ll be unloading copies for a buck or two.
Mr. Feige has written a book with some amusing stories but the overall liberal bias renders it more a polemic. Every story is distorted by omission of facts and his unrelenting bitterness. For example Mr. Feige writes how cars with tinted windows are given 5 tickets, one for each window. He doesn’t say that tinted cars are the prefered hit vehicles for drive by shootings and drug deals. If the police can get a tinted vehicle off the streets by amplifying the violation by 5, more power to them. He also writes about dog violations as though the police were using them to harass helpless pet owners. He doesn’t say that these are not the cute poodles you might find on 72nd St. These are vicious 150 lb pit bulls that are used to terrorise neighbors and clear a path on the sidewalk. Finally, there are the ad hominem attacks naming specific jurists without any attempt to provide a balanced view. At one point, Mr. Feige names a judge and states, “He got the job by handing $38,000 in cash to a politician”. Where are the facts to back up this accusation? More than anything else, the emptyness and bitterness of Mr. Feige’s life shines through. He never mentions a wife, children, or any outside of work activities other than drinking.
Too many of Mr. Feige’s “facts” are mearly personal attacks which go unsubstantiated throughout all his book and appear to be rooted in his abuse at the hands of his intellectual superiors. He tries to be serious, but how can anyone who ignores the truth be taken seriously? He has no legal good standing in most of his attacks on the people mentioned in his book. Objective critics will take apart his book to show the flaws, the illogic, and more than anything, the outright lies he tells in his writing, things which he will never correct or publicly declare as inaccurate.
It is a very sad thing when someone writes fiction as truth.
His writing is so weak as to show the shame of his educational upbringing. He writes wholly on a base, primitively emotional level and the work falls apart quite handily when subjected to any kind of real scrutiny.
If William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mark Twain or Ernest Hemingway were alive today, they would surely be able to denounce such writing as far from literature as it is possible. Their spirits must indeed be incensed that such a one as Mr. Feige believes himself in any way a true author.
