whats the difference between a senior partnership and a jr. partnership@a law firm?

I’ve heard of the seven and out rule that some law firms have, if you dont make partner after seven years, they can ask you to leave. does this mean that if ur a jr. partner u’ll still be asked to leave or is a jr. partnership enough to keep your job?
