SHOULD A PLAINTIFF EVER SPEAK WITH THE DEFENSE’S LAWYER?

I filed the tiny claims box (i have no attorney) as well as the defendant’s profession (defendant is the corporation) was only told of trial. The profession attempted to call me though we didn’t collect up. I’m not certain because he would call…perhaps to settle? Should we speak to him? Thanks.
